What is Alzheimer's disease and how can we help?

Alzheimer's is a progressive degenerative disease that attacks and destroys the brain cells. In Canada an estimated 64% of all people suffering from cognitive difficulties are living with Alzheimer's disease.

At Villa Belle Rive we understand the special attention required by our residents and have thoughtfully prepared for them an environment that is at once relaxing and engaging, complete with fully accredited supervision and medical personnel, and set in pleasant natural surroundings. More than medical assurances, we offer all our residents a unique and varied daily programme of activities and memory games designed to keep both body and mind fit and active, with special emphasis on personalisation and attention to each resident's individual needs. We believe that strong connections are important to the well-being of our residents and this is why we do not limit our visiting hours, making it convenient to spend time together.

Alzheimer's is not a natural aspect of the aging process; its symptoms include: memory trouble or loss of mental acuity; difficulty making decisions; difficulty in maintaining one's daily tasks and routines. Emotional responses and environmental interaction can also be affected. So far, there is no way to block the progress of the disease, but research continues into the best techniques in care and treatment in the hopes of a cure.

Until that day, we at Villa Belle Rive have pledged to provide the very best in specialised attention and care for our residents, your loved ones.
